James joined the team at Emma Turnbull Lawyers in 2021. He successfully completed the Juris Doctor program at the University of Melbourne and earlier completed a Bachelor of Communication (Professional Communication) from RMIT University. He was admitted in the Supreme Court of Victoria in February 2021 and specialises in criminal defence advocacy.

As a criminal defence lawyer, James has a strong commitment to human rights and robust advocacy. He demonstrates his commitment to human rights by his history of voluntary work in refugee law at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. James is experienced in working with a diverse client base and understands what is required to effectively communicate with clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. James appears daily as an advocate in the Magistrate’s Court for criminal matters, including bail applications, plea hearings, and mention hearings.
